“Blue” as we call him is a super head horse, if you need a solid rope horse for a youngster starting out he is solid in the box and gives you the same ride out every time. Our 14 year old granddaughter learned to rope out of the box on Blue. We’ve ridden him in the steep country in Colorado and all over the Ochoco’s gathering cattle, sorting, branding etc. We just completed 8 days up in the Mt Jefferson wilderness with him where we traveled 15 to 25 miles a day, every day. Blue is a gentle giant on the ground, he’s never offered to buck, bolt, rear, bite, kick or strike since we’ve owned him. Always easy to catch and load in a stock or slant load trailer. We bought him from his breeder in South Dakota. Blue has always been sound for us, he does have a lump like many grays seem to get under his jaw, we had the vet aspirate fluid when we pulled blood for his coggins 8/26/2021 he thought it was a common thyroiditis issue and to not worry about it. He is safe and surefooted in the mountains. He came with splints on both front legs at 5 and has never been lame. He's a forward moving horse but safe and sane.
