Savannah: AQHA Buckskin Mare (SKIPS LUV A LITTLE #4680984), 17 years old (foaled 4/24/2005) and is 15.1 HH. Beautiful Buckskin Mare with prominent dorsal stripe down her back and tiger stripes on her front legs. Easy keeper, good ground manners, loves to be groomed and lift her feet well for cleaning & farrier. She is used to being stabled at night and out during the day. She is not a cribber. She is also hardy enough to be outside 24-7. She loves to roll and lay in the sun. She will meet you at the gate or paddock with a winny. She is easy to catch, halter and lead. She is easy to blanket and put her fly mask on. She lunges and knows what you want. She has a beautiful trot, lope and canter. We have saddled and bridled her and have ridden her in saddle and bareback in the field, arena & round pen. She is easy to get on once you have her all geared up and she trusts you. She parallel parks for you at the loading block. Savannah has so many pros. The only con is that she is a bit cinchy and does not care for a strong bit. She needs fine tuning though to get her riding every day again. Kids, dogs, quads and tractors do not phase her. She stands quiet tied at the hitching post or cross tied. She stands good for the vet and the farrier. She trims and shoes nicely. We have had her feet trimmed every 8 weeks. She is UTD on all her vaccines. Has been wormed every 3 months, last was June 2022. Her teeth were floated in February 2022. She has never foundered, she has no laminitis, no arthritis, no navicular and her coffin bones are in excellent condition. This last winter, after 5 months without shoes, she started showing signs of stiffness in her left rear stifle and soreness in her front feet. We discovered she had two small abscesses on her front souls. She had gotten a couple small rock punctures in her front souls that caused the abscesses. With minimal treatment, she healed right up. Just to be sure, we also had her FULLY vet checked including x-rays of her feet and discovered she is thin souled, but has good healthy hooves. She is most comfortable when has shoes on all four. She bathes and loads in either a slant or straight load. She has had limited riding the past 2 years due to the breeding and foaling process. We bought her in July 2021 as a pair with her colt when he was only 4-months old. She is well bred with a strong bloodline. She is one terrific broodmare. She produced and raised up an amazing colt, which we are keeping. She is strong and healthy, does not look or act her age. She loves to be with other horses. She does not have to be lead horse. She particularly likes other mares over other geldings. But she will go along to get along after a short introduction and she learns her place in the pecking order. She does not need to be worked or ridden to be happy. She does need her exercise since she likes to eat. She is content with going with you on the lead for a nice long stroll or a good lunge to keep her toned up. She is a sweetheart. With patience and persistence, she could be a consistent riding mare. She is a good well-mannered Mama and will produce you a beautiful healthy foal if that is what you want. She is sound, but we are selling her as is, only because of the mysterious stifle stiffness she has had just recently. She has a few scars from cuts in the barn and pasture. They have healed fine and they don’t phase her one bit. She is a tough mare. She may be a beauty queen, but she is no princess. We would love to keep her forever, but we do not have the facility to breed her again. We also have a young growing horse family and do not need another mouth to feed. If you have any questions please call or text Todd at 541-554-2504.
